The panel encourages a reduction in taxes in Japan in the United States for the benefit of the economy and the individual prosperity of Americans and Japanese. Both countries are recovering from the economic damage of the pandemic and are overcoming high inflation. They are a facing a dilemma between the need to increase defense spending but also the need to lower taxes to revamp the economy. Chang indicates that war is coming at any moment and defense spending is non-negotiable regardless of cost. Defense spending is even more imperative in Japan since North Korean and Chinese missiles have been launched intentionally near to Japan. The panelists urge economic measures against China as well. Chang demands a policy of reciprocity that only accepts Chinese products if China accepts American products.
