  1. Star also flagged that it is unlikely to finalise a deal to
sell its share of Brisbane’s Queen’s Wharf casino to its consortium
partners – Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium
    – by the July 31 deadline. Embattled casino operator Star Entertainment is facing the potential
collapse of the deal to offload its troubled Queen’s Wharf
precinct in Brisbane to its Asian partners a day before the
deadline. Destination Brisbane Consortium is delivering an iconic development in Brisbane as the city moves to a new future.
In 2012, the state government announced plans to redevelop the
9ha of riverfront area, offering the project to willing corporations from the private
sector. Today, the majority share in BAC is owned by QIC Infrastructure Management, while Igneo Infrastructure Partners, IFM Investors, Royal Schiphol Group and Spirit Super also have significant stakes.
Hundreds of millions of dollars went into its eight-year construction, finally opening in 1988.

Rising above Brisbane’s newest lifestyle precinct, Queen’s Wharf Residences is more than just
a place to stay, it’s the tallest tower
in the development and the only residential building directly connected
to the integrated resort. Rounding out the list
of cuisines on offer at Queen’s Wharf is some modern Cantonese from Hua, a sleek
spot with a sizeable footprint—and some gorgeous private dining rooms if that’s on your bingo card.
If we had to choose, we’d say grab a table out on the patio,
where you can enjoy the sunset views with a glass
of bubbles in hand before tucking into signature eats like steak tartare
and the impressive boeuf filet en croûte. Do we even need to mention it’s all being dished up in jaw-dropping interiors that will have you snapping group photos left,
right and centre? Even if you have stopped in for a stickybeak, it’s likely you got lost somewhere between George Street and Sky Deck without actually discovering just how many different dining options there are around the precinct.
If you haven’t dined your way through Queen’s Wharf yet, well, it’s about damn time.
In simple terms, Bally’s is hinting it wants to step in,
bring the two casino operations (Queen’s Wharf and The Star Gold Coast)
under one roof, and possibly take over in future.
The Sky Deck extends 250 metres around the top of two towers.
This involved the placement of a 175-tonne piece of steel 100
metres above ground level, between the two curved towers.
An oblong sculpture by artist Lindy Lee is located at the George Street entrance.
The project also includes a 1,500 seat-ballroom and a Sky Deck observation platform with 360 degree views.

The Star Brisbane has previously announced venues such as the
sprawling Sports Bar, a reimagined Fat Noodle restaurant by
celebrity chef Luke Nguyen, Japanese stand-out Sokyo and Cherry
which will all open from day one. The timing for construction of these towers – offering additional residential apartments is yet to be decided.

Queen’s Wharf Brisbane announced it would offer one of the world’s finest luxury shopping precincts after securing a deal
with retail giant DFS. Waterline Park is positioned behind 1 William Street, adjacent to the river and
provides space for people to relax and enjoy or exercise using some of the equipment.

Artist John Swadling’s painting, Isaac St. Spring Hill – A
Brisbane Echo, is one of the finalists in the inaugural Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Art Prize.

Over more than a decade, RLB collaborated closely with our visionary client, construction partner Multiplex, architect
Cottee Parker and other stakeholders to navigate challenges
from inclement weather to supply chain impacts. The Sky Deck is an engineering marvel, with 500 tonnes of
suspended steel that soars 100 metres over
William Street and spans four towers like a ship in the sky.
RLB arguably boasts the world’s largest construction cost database,
but gathering data is only part of the equation. These
systems carefully tailored to suit the scale and complexity
of the project, support safe and efficient access for maintenance personnel across all areas
of the towers. Karabiner is proud to have delivered the complete design,
engineering, and installation of bespoke façade access and height safety systems for the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development.

Highlights include Luke Nguyen’s reimagined Fat Noodle, serving Southeast
Asian flavours, Sokyo’s Japanese fine dining, and Black Hide Steak & Seafood, now
in a 240-seat riverside terrace space. It has created thousands of
jobs during construction and will provide upwards of
8,000 operational roles, boosting local employment and supporting over 80% of contracts awarded to Queensland
businesses; stunning! In the modern era, capturing anyone’s attention for longer than 20
seconds It is unclear whether Star would continue operating the casino
    – it expects to finalise the deal by the end of June – as US casino giant Bally’s Corporation has
made a play for its other casinos, including on the Gold Coast.
The building is leased to the government until April 2029, but
potential bidders have been told there is “enormous future redevelopment potential … allowing for several uses including residential, hotel and commercial developments of up to 274 metres in height”.
The 1750-square-metre corner block at 63 George Street is directly opposite the
entrance to the Queen’s Wharf casino and hotel complex,
and a short walk from the Albert Street Cross River Rail station under construction.
It had been planned for years, with the people of Brisbane needing to
regularly get to Kangaroo Point across the Brisbane River.
Bundaberg’s famous rum distillery is so renowned you could almost forget it’s owned by
the British. Brothers Michael and Cal spent more than $100m on construction before opening
in 2018. The Calile Hotel is one of Brisbane’s newest landmarks, but it’s already been named one of the best hotels in the world.
“Public spaces will be among the first areas to be opened and that includes the viewing platform on Sky Deck, Miller Park, and of course the Neville Bonner Bridge linking Queen’s Wharf to South Bank,” he
said. “The Treasury Brisbane will close at a time before The Star Brisbane opens, with that date yet to be announced,” a Star
    spokeswoman said.
Premier Palaszczuk also announced that the State Government would commission a $1.3 million business case for a 1500-seat theatre, to report back in 12 months.
The lucrative final deal on the $3 billion Queen’s
Wharf Brisbane development will deliver more than $1 billion to
state coffers. Whether it’s learning more about the new Riverline, Entertainment options, exploring Heritage locations, or what’s available at The
Star Brisbane — Queen’s Wharf Brisbane has it all.
I’m sure they’re great restaurants, but people don’t go there for the food.
Star reported a 10 per cent drop in revenue for Treasury
casino in Brisbane – which still raked in $177.6
million in six months – due to steps taken to deal with problem gamblers, such as
    exclusions and time restrictions.
